Boat Type: Super Satellite (Dinghy) Fractional Sloop

« on: July 26, 2009, 05:54:28 pm »

Just purchased a older Super Satellite Sailboat. (1960) 14 ft.  Similar to a Lido 14.... very little information on this boat, would like to know more.  Would love to find a Owner's Manual or some original type documentation in a pdf file, etc.  Anyone out there know anything about this boat?  Apparently the designer was Ted Carpentier.  Thanks in advance!   ;D

I can't prove it, but I think the Super Satalite is nearly the same as the OMEGA 14, which in turn, is the predecessor of the CAPRI 14.2, built by Catalina Yachts. Information on this latter boat is easy to find. (in fact, the class has it's own web site). Information on the earlier 2 boats is very thin.  The designer Ted Carpentier is really a mystery.  If you stumble into some info about him that I don't have already, let me know.
Regards,
Randy Browning

I have a Super Satellite Year Book from 1965 from the Super Satellite Association.  I can email you the information I have scanned.  My email is
kkfloyd45@gmail.com

I bought my boat, number 192, in 1971 near Marina del Ray in California.  I sailed it for many years in southern and northern Calif  and a little bit in Oregon.  I am about to start a restoration (I haven't sailed it for several years).
