Thanks so much. Wonderful contribution.  Now, you only need to post the brochure so I can add a photo. I can't remember why I had this boat listed as 28-2. No idea if there was an earlier Santana 28. Do you know who designed this model?
I thought I had everything Schock, but I didn't have this one.
The folks at this  company(W. D Schock) have to be the nicest anywhere. Jane Schock, in particular, has been most kind in answering some of the questions I had. I like to think that is why they are still in business.  And I hope they stay that way for ever.

Hey,

Shad Turner designed. Nice boat.

There is one for sale in NY at the moment and I almost couldn't pass it up...too far north for me though :)
If anyone is interested... http://www.sailboatlistings.com/view/19647

The brochure photos are not very clear, but there are some pics in the attached article.

Thanks for this site, I'm happy I was able to contribute.

Posting article and detailed specs separately. Having an issue uploading with slow bandwidth. The session times out before the upload finish...

Oh I forgot!

This one is the first 28 built 76-78, the second was the 228 built 78-80

Thanks!

Thanks. this is what must have caused the confusion. SANTANA 228 looks like the same hull with a more modern, 'wedge' type deck.  Hard to tell for sure. Seems as though they are somewhat rare.
Sorry about the problem with the upload.  I'm thinking of switching to another message board software. If you have any more difficulties with files, you just send via email and I'll post for you.
