In the back of mind, I know it. Another sign that senility is taking it's toll

Ok, I'll say it. 'Cause I know you're all thinking it..

That is one ugly boat.

There, now doesn't it feel better  ;D

Yes, but someone loved it once, after seeing it in a brochure, or in show room,... enough to shell out some hard earned money to buy it, (hopefully not TO much) and couldn't wait see it hit the water for the first time, without being encumbered  with any specific ideas as to what a sailboat SHOULD look like. We're both in agreement as to the appearance of this particular boat.   I just remember when I was 8 years old, and excited when I saw anything with a sail on it. Sometimes, I wish I could still have that same attitude.
I know, .....so don't we all.

How's the boat going?  That's OK.  I'll check your blog.

Boat's going well thx :)

Yeah, so for the mystery boat, on a technical level it is clear that the designer had some specific purpose in mind for his design, some specific sailing program and why not, even a specific place. I suppose like evolution, you can get some odd creatures that evolved to adapt to where they live.

Good guess. Much closer than anything I could come up with. Still, I don't think that's it.
The way the deck slopes down towards the bow. Just doesn't look the same.
