Still a new bean… I recently bought a sailboat and noticed one of the sail lines has been pulled all the way to top. I cannot get up there. Any old sailor tricks on how to get back down.

It depends on your boat, the rig (masthead or fractional) and which line you want to recover but the reality is there are no old tricks… You’ll need a bosun chair (or something like a Mast Mate) and a couple of good friends! Please read up on how to use it and be careful.

I do not know how high the mast is but you might try buying some pvc pipe–grey is better as it has a thicker wall.
Figure out what length you need and glue them together for that length. Fashion a Hook from small diameter mild steel and file a point on the end of the hook. Duct Tape it to the end of the pipe you built and go fishing for you line at the top of the mast.
