We had one in the late 70’s early 80’s in League City / NASA Texas along upper Galveston Bay.  When everyone else was turning around because of the wind, waves and weather, we would head out – that was when the Ballad really shined.  Very stiff, when tuned correctly a very assertive but safe weather helm, at least for the times was built like a tank.  Not nearly as much interior room as some of the other ‘bleach bottle’ boats then popular, but a real sailboat that was certainly fast enough and great fun when had some weather
