Original class name is LONG ISLAND SOUND INTERCLUB.
The result of efforts made by a group headed by Carroll B. Alker of the Seawanhaka Corinthian YC and developed for racing on Long Island Sound.
In 1938, a significant number of the original boats were sold to residents at Lake George NY, where organized racing is said to have continued until the late 1950’s.
An article appeared in ‘Wooden Boat’ magazine, (Jan.,2015) describing the complete restoration of 2 original boats.

A design selected for junior sailors (by Junior Yacht Racing Assoc. of Long Island Sound), this is said to be the first commission for the firm of Sparkman & Stephens and hence, listed by them as S&S design #1.
A fleet still exists at Manhasset Bay Y.C.USA (2013).
Also available with a yawl rig. An updated MKII version was introduced in 1965.
In the US, offered by George O’Day Associates as the OHLSON 35. (Not the same as the later fiberglass OHLSON 35.)
