Notes

The original SII had a 3/4 fractional rig with the forestay running from about 10" aft of the bow to about 3/4 of the way up the mast (displayed above). In 1957, the Silhouette changed from the original fractional rig to a masthead rig and from inboard fitting of the forestay to the permitted nose fitting.
Sail area for the fractional rig was 110 sqft (jib 45 sqft, main 65 sqft).
Sail area for the masthead rig was 117 sqft (jib 52 sqft, main 65 sqft). Later, the jib sail area was increased to 56 sqft, the maximum allowable by the class.
A fin keel version (displayed here) draws 2.67', but most were built with bilge (twin) keels.
Early boats were plywood. A fiberglass version was introduced around 1963. The later, fiberglass Mk III version was the result of a major re-design and was built by Hurley Marine Ltd.
