I own a 1974 Cal 21 so years built in listing must be wrong. Serial number is CAB216970974
Also, Steve Henkels’ book The Sailors Book of Small Cruising Sailboats says production ran from 1969 to 1976

HIN numbers (Hull Identification Numbers) are usually molded into the hull on the top of the transom on the starboard side, just under the rubrail.
