Edwin Monk Sr.

1894 - 1973

Boat builder and Naval Architect from the Pacific Northwest (USA).
Best remembered today for his power boat designs. He was hired by L. E. "Ted" Geary in the early 1920's and then went out on his own by 1933.
He was the author of:
'Small Boat Building' (1934)
'Modern Boat Building' (1939)
Edwin Monk produced more than 3,000 boat designs ranging from 6 foot dinghies to 150' workboats.
His son, Edwin Monk Jr., carried on the family tradition as a designer.

In 2014 Puget Sound Maritime Historical Society accepted a large collection of drawings, documents, photos, and artifacts from his family.
