    Hello,

    apparently the mentioned Hanse has wrong Sail Area reported.

    Reported: 655.52 ft² / 60.90 m²

    True: 538.2 ft² / 49.77 m²

    The error seems to be based on the Genoa with 33m² as the Measuremets for this foresail is :
    I=12.2

    J=3.65

    Which would result in ~22m² which is with Main incuded ~49m²

    Sail Area:
    Main: 27.5m² / 296 ft²
    Self-tacking jib: 16m² / 172 ft²
    Optional Genoa (140%): 33.4m² / 360 ft²
    Optional Gennaker: 63m² / 678 ft²

    We report sail area two ways. Our SA (reported) is just that… what the builder reports. In this case, Hanse’s reported SA included the 140% overlapping genoa.

    You are referring to the 100% fore triangle area based on rig measurements. When we have that information, we report is as S.A. Total (100% Fore + Main Triangles).

    When we first created the record for the 315 (2006) we did not have the rig measurements. When we saw your post we went looking a bit and found them which have now been added to the record.

    Hope this helps.
