General Search Tips
Searching For Class/Boat Names:
Search results default to alphabetical, 25 per page. Use SORT BY: to switch your results to sort by year built or LOA.
Select REFINE SEARCH below the blue search bar to narrow down your results. We offer the ability to search by criteria like beam, draft, and ratios SA/D, Disp/Len, Bal/Disp and Comfort.
If your interest is searching boats with centerboards, fill in as much criteria in Refine Search as you can. When filling in Draft, place a number in "Under" only. Make it shallow. Put in something like 2' or 2.5' (or whatever number fits your needs). That will pretty much default to boats with centerboards. For example, LOA 30' - 32', Monohull, Draft under 2.5'. Built between 1990 and 2010 will return seven results, all with variable draft keels (Lifting, centerboard, swing).
The small blue circles with question marks on all sailboat record pages are clickable if you would like more information on what those numbers represent.
Builder List Search:
One could also go to the BUILDER search section and find, for example, Pearson Yachts. All the boats built by Pearson should be listed within that title. The link to these yachts would also show up by browsing or searching the designer section by ALBERG and go to the listing for Carl Alberg.
Designer List Search:
Designers are listed by name OR, in some cases, a design FIRM name. (Sparkman & Stephens). By entering the letter S in the text form, results will show all designers with a FIRST name beginning with S, or firm names beginning with S. To see a list of designers with a last name beginning with S, select refine search and select S where indicated. Once you select a DESIGNER record, you will see all BOAT records in the database for that particular designer. (if any exist). Not ALL BOAT records are linked to a particular designer.
