Trident Marine produced three variations of the same hull, the WARRIOR (centre cockpit), CHALLENGER (aft cockpit) and VOYAGER (pilothouse) versions.

This was the smallest of the Universal Rule-influenced one-design classes built for members of the New York Yacht Club and fleet racing existed into the early 1930’s. A number of the original boats have survived in to the 20th century and been restored to a high standard.

The Schock 40 is the first production boat featuring the CBTF™ (Canting ballast twin foil) system. Developed and patented by DynaYacht, the CBTF™ system, according to the builder, reduces the amount of ballast normally found on a boat this size by 50%.

The original Colin Mudie design was modified several times since first introduced.
