It is said that it is because of a legal dispute over the design that the COOPER 508 was in production for a relatively short time and only a few were built.
According to designer Bob Perry, only one of these yachts was built.

A brochure exists and a number of these were sold however, according to Marius Corbin:
“There never was such a thing as a 35′ Corbin. We were making the mold of a 35′ when the factory burned and we did not have enough insurance to cover the mold and it was never rebuilt. Consequently, we never made a 35′ sailboat. We had a few sold, but we made a deal with those customers to buy a 39′, instead.”
