The LIBERTY 23 (19 built) varied slightly with the same hull, more ballast, with slightly more sail area. When the free-standing aluminum masts for the LIBERTY (cat ketches) were no longer available, Hunter introduced a gaff rigged sloop version with the same hull called the MINSTREL which was built until 1993.
A follow up to the JAGUAR 21, the 23 proved to be far less popular and was soon replaced with the JAGUAR 24.
The JAGUAR 23 was also available with twin (bilge) keels.
Originally called the LASER SB3, it was built in Malaysia and sold by Laser Performance under licence from the designer until 2012.
Class rules specify a crew weight limit and prohibit hiking.
It is thought that more than 700 boats have been built.
