3nd place in a ‘Yachting World’ design competition of 1949. Limited production didn’t begin until 1958. The Mk ll was introduced in 1962 with a fractional rig and a laminated coach roof with raised doghouse. Returned to masthead rig with a Mk III version of which few were built. (shown here)
All together it is thought the about 50 were turned out.

Specs above are from an original Fairways Marine brochure. Later Northshore and Neil Marine docs indicate a draft of 1.49m / 4.92ft; 75 -80 hp Yanmar engines; and a sail area for the ketch rig of 58.14 m² / 626 ft²

As with the GUPPY and others of this period, the GALION was designed for a number of uses, recreational fishing or sail. Despite the size, inboard power was available as an option.
