Rigs: Fractional Sloop
Fractional Sloop
First 9 boats were commissioned by the Seawanhaka Corinthian YC. (Long Island NY, USA)
Raced as a class into the late 1950’s.
Information has been promised.
Same hull as the FISH Class but with a cuddy/cabin.
At last account, all 4 original Marlins have survived into the 21’st century.
The WEEK-ENDER class was the brain child of Donald Abbott. The first version (1938) by S&S, was a huge success with nearly 40 built. Abbott was also responsible for this later version, an entirely different design, sometimes called the NEW WEEK-ENDER. The country was on on the verge of war at this time and only a few were built.
Rhodes design #462. (Plans available at Mystic Seaport Museum – Philip Rhodes Collection.)
Rhodes Design #437.
