Rigs: Fractional Sloop
Fractional Sloop
Similar to the Hunt designed INTERNATIONAL 110.
Raced as a one-design class for a number of years on San Francisco Bay.
Popular in France where a an active class association exists to this day.
From a number of different builders. Deck, cockpit, and coach roof have undergone a number of changes since first introduced in 1958.
Shown above is a more recent profile.
Another version with a small cuddy is called the CARAGOGNE.
Commissioned (BEFORE the NORDIC FOLKBOAT) by the Royal Danish Yacht Club as a Junior racing boat. It became the KDY 15 Sq.M., known also as “Juniors Bad” and did get the addition of “Folke”, only because of it’s strong resemblance to it’s bigger cousin.
The majority of these boats were lost in a boatyard fire in 1974, effectively destroying a class that had raced on Long Island Sound (Manhasset Bay) since they were first imported from Norway in 1955.
Many thanks to the William Tripp Design Office for providing images and general information concerning this yacht.
