A DL version includes a Westerbeke diesel connected to an Inboard/Outboard type ‘leg’ that can be raised out of the water when not in use.
Derived from an earlier boat called the NAUGUS 30, originally built in 1967 by Naugus Fiberglass Industries, (Marblehead, MA) (6 built). The tooling was later sold to Cape Dory Yachts and renamed CAPE 30. Thanks to NAUGUS 30 owner Ben Smith for providing extra information.
The first boat from this builder to be called a COMET, and one of it’s most successful. Including all the different versions, it is thought that nearly 1000 were built.
