All 200 hulls were molded by Marine Construction Ltd., but many were finished by Southern Boatbuilding.
The design was a longer counter sterned development of the 1967 designed Rival 31, and later evolved into the better-known Rival 34 – although actually more Rival 32s than 34s were built.

A “stretched” version of a Morris 44 which enabled a larger lazarette locker fitted abaft the cockpit coaming.

First available in wood, then with FG hulls with wood coachroof and deck. By 1970, an all glass version was available. It is thought that the glass boats were molded by Tyler Boat Co. Ltd. and finished and fitted out by other yards.
