A more cruising oriented version, the J/37C, introduced somewhat later(1989?) with the same hull, has an extended coach roof (smaller cockpit), modified interior (larger galley, etc.), larger anchor well with the engine re-positioned aft. Also available with a winged keel.

Specs above are from a Bristol Yachts builder’s brochure. Regarding displacement, after weighing, one owner reports a lightship displacement of 23,500 lbs. He also reports total water tankage of 78 gallons (bow tank 30 gal; tank under the cabin sole 48 gal).
As shown, the FASTNET 45 was available with either a flush deck or regular extended coachroof, sloop or yawl.
A fixed keel version was also available, as was a yawl rig. Diesel available as an option.

A Mark II version was introduced (1982) that allows direct access to the companionway steps from the cockpit with a slightly different interior layout.
At a later date, this hull design was offered in the US as the LITTLE HARBOR 38, and the BRISTOL 38.8.
