I know these boats are old and information may be scarce. I am acquiring a 1978 Hunter 25 Cherubini. I would appreciate any collateral information like an owners manual, or whatever is out there. The main thing I need to find out right now is what was the HP rating for that boat back then. I have a 15HP outboard and want to know if it would be to biog to use on that boat. Thanks.

We do not have an owner’s manual but we’ve heard the general guideline is 4 hp per 2200 lbs displacement. The Hunter 25 displacement was listed at 3,850 lbs. Based on that guideline, you don’t need more than an 8 hp outboard. Other considerations are long or short shaft and propellor size.
