Hi,
The through-hill drain pipe on my Point Jude daysailer came out and needs replacing. I was surprised to find that only the top end of the old Moeller drain tube – the deck end – was flanged. The hull side of the tube, the side that hits the water, was straight – not flanged.
That seems strange to me. It seems to be much safer to flange the hull/water side of the tube, too.
Is there a reason why my original tube would have been straight on the lower water/hull end? An advantage to this of some sort?
When I replace it, I think I’ll flange the bottom too – unless there’s some reason not to.
Thanks to anyone with any input into this…
