I sent you a correction some time ago that either there was a typo of I was just plain wrong. (can’t imagine how that could be) The sail area of the gaff Buzzards Bay 15 was 353 Sq. Ft. (32.7 Sq. M) making the S.A./Disp. ration 31.31.

Also in the Notes below, there was a line about the Newport 15; “There was another version called the NEWPORT 15 (1899) with deeper fixed keel.” that is wrong. The Newport 15 had a centerboard but with the deadwood and ballast lowered by 6″, making the draft 2′ 9″. There were also four fixed keel Buzzards Bay 15 footers with a draft of 3′ 4.5″.

Oops, Scratch the sail area correction. 330 sq ft is correct for he gaff 15s. And the S.A./Disp ratio was correct as stated.

The comments about the notes on the Newport 15 were however correct.

Hi Jim, We’ve updated our comment section to reflect a keel/cb for the Newport 15. We also added that four Buzzards Bay 15’s had fixed keels.

Like with the Fish class changes, in the brochure ca. 1936, Herreshoff reported slightly different beam and draft than what we had been showing. We’ve updated those as well.
