    Hello,
My grandpa built a Y-flyer all by himself back when he was young, he painted it too and named it the Bobbie Lou… but he sold it to a friend several years ago and that man has since passed away. I know the serial number is 1872, and I was wondering if there was a way I could try to find where that exact boat is now?

Y-1872 was built in 1967 by Anthony Pennybaker. The last information I have was 1872 was assigned to Keith Hinchey Jr. from Oklahoma City, OK on March 30, 1976..

Have you tried contacting the Y-flyer Class Association?   https://www.yflyerclass.org

They seem like a friendly bunch and might be able to help you find out more.  Even if  she was built out of fiberglass though a boat that old is not likely to still be around. The current sail numbers are in the 2800 range.
