Before 1900 there were 3 types of boats designated as 'Belfast Lough One Design'. Class I, (9 built), Class II (9 built) Class III, the smallest with 10 built.

This version (CLASS I) and the largest was also known as SEA BIRD CLASS at the time with each boat named after a bird.
At last report (2011) at least 3 of these yachts still survive.
